The common theme of my work is re-cycling, using materials unwanted and discarded, and giving them a new life.
Examples of contemporary decoupage are shown in Gallery 1 - charity shop furniture, or pieces found abandoned in the street, are covered in scenes from comics and graphic novels, and made to shine with layers of varnish.
Recently I have been working with a new style of decoupage, cutting hundreds of leaves from recycled cards to substitute the delicate mother of pearl, or bone, used in inlay furniture .
Another experiment has been to use shellac records as a base for decoupage bowls.
In Gallery 2, items can also be personalised ; a bottle top backgammon or a draughts set (or a pair of ear rings, or a ring ...) could be made with any photograph or picture - a favourite vinyl album can be transformed into a bowl, or a clock
